  • after the scratch incident with the racer, i have had a catastrophic episode with it this weekend. i bought some hydraulic ramps that lift each wheel up. when testing them so that could lift the car all the way and clear the garage door, the car has come off one of them and fucked the valance and a bit of the front wing.

    i just want to cry.

  • ah fucking hell richie. this is awful. not even sure i want to see a pic of this.

just hope not as serious as sounds

  • ah fucking hell richie. this is awful.

    All of this.

  • Amazing car in hindsight. Bit light in the rear so cornering was not it's strong suit.

Mine was white with the a burgundy velour interior. Like being inside a giant smoking jacket.

  • Register a formal complaint with the insurer and give them a time frame in which to resolve it before he contacts the ombudsman.

Maybe also search in this thread or the motorbike thread for that 3rd party company that handles insurance claims and bitch-slaps your insurance co. for you.

  • Yes, just got him to fire in a formal complaint, so hopefully that will help.

Ah a third party could be interesting, he has a 4 week old son, so time poor, so if there was someone who could take some of this off his hands that would be handy.

  • I'd be wary of the accident management companies, they are purely aimed at extracting the most money out of the claim, not to make your life easiest. They are massively to blame for increased premium costs.

  • Also, I'm off to the detailer with the Volvo tomorrow, will be with them for the rest of the week, so should look incredible by the time they're finished. Can't wait to see their content.

  • is he allowed to call LV himself?

I don't see why not, I called the other party's insurer numerous times when someone drove into my parked car. If you have the other guy's name, address and reg then they should be able to get the details for you.

  • The pink to red fade at the moment is on point though

  • Interesting, may see if he wants to do this. He just spoke to LV again, apparently the guy is now not claiming responsibility, not sure how that will work on for him, my brother was on the roundabout, and his back passenger door is caved, hard to see how it is not his fault.

  • NurseHolliday I don't have any personal experience, but I'm sure there was someone here, and pretty sure it was on the motorbike thread, who was being utterly reamed by their insurer. 3rd party got them fair value.

Guess you just need to take a view on your circumstances and get a recommendation.

  • @mcmyk thats odd. My dad was a Daihatsu dealer back in in the day and i have this really vivid memory of being given a roll of promo stickers for the Fourtrak that had that slogan on. Either I've got a very skewed memory or the Daihatsu marketing department (or the garage) ripped the tagline from Land Rover. This was in Harrogate in the mid-80's so the latter could have been a tactic to get affluent North Yorkshire farmers out of their Defender's and into the Fourtrak?!

  • That's shit Richie. Hope it's a relatively easy fix and you get the thing looking as good as it did ready for the season.

  • Probably a good thing. Not sure if it was just on first gen launch control but I remember the small print in most handbooks was that in cars still under warranty, LQ was good for about 3 launches and then they would no longer honour the warranty on anything clutch/gearbox related.

  • My bike lets you do three, then you have to ride it properly for a while before being allowed another three. Not sure what’s going on there!

  • I keep looking at 330ci BMWs. The price is low at the moment and the Pre-face lifts seem to be rising in value.

I can only imagine this will be expensive to run & maintain, and boring to drive compared to my 182 - am I wrong?

Does anyone have experience with these?

  • My dad picked up a mechanically fine one on ~100k miles for a laughable 1k that looks just like the one in your post. Standard multiple-owner-BMW-of-that-age things – bit of bubbling on the front wing, interior a bit tatty (but largely retrievable), some mirror glass ejected itself and one of the bumper mounts is about t0 give up out but he really enjoys it in its own right, even before considering it as a bargain runaround. Mostly ragging around Dorset lanes and moaning how worn the suspension set-up is while refusing to spend any money tightening it all up.

  • The rear suspension pulls itself out of the floor on those, other than that they're quite cool.

  • This turned up at work on a transporter today. It's proper fucked but is someone's pride and joy.

  • I'm trying to sell my 2019 340i, not quite the same ias what you're looking at I know. But I like it very much. Bit gutted to have to get rid. I drive it quite spiritedly when I can, and still get really good avg mileage out of it- around 35 or more. Doesnt seem too spiteful running costs at all. Pops and bangs a bit in sport mode, but not at all lairy. My son calls it a sleeper. I think that means good.

  • Oh fuck. That’s a big ouch.

  • I want one but I can't afford one.

    Let's see pics.
