  • That is a really well written piece. Unfortunately it will be ignored or spun around by those who choose to ignore the message and choose to surround themselves with the narrative they want to hear.

    You'd hope the comparison to remembrance day might put it in perspective for some, but because it's in the Irish Times I reckon there will be quite a few negative responses to that section in particular. Which is also very sad.

  • I'll be honest, I don't think it's really meant for those booing or those sceptical about taking the knee. You'll likely never convince them. It's a good reminder that as long as people boo it, it remains important.

  • True. Did anyone else see the Millwall Supporters Club statement? Absolute garbage and text book "I'm not a racist but..." style excuses.

  • To be honest I thought it had become a bit of an empty gesture and lost its impact until the Millwall fans booed it.

    They were a useful reminder of why it's sadly necessary.
