• finally finished this bike, but something awful happened.

yesterday's race was high up on the lancs/yorks border and had a downhill start. we came barrelling out of the grid for 100m or so into a gentle right hander. i feathered the brakes to slow down, but nothing was happening. in fact, i was picking up speed. i leaned into the turn but to no avail and tore through the course tape. great start.

i slammed hard on the brakes to stop the bike and get myself back, but still there came no apparent signs of slowing down. i sailed off away from the course, past the sign-on tent and through the courtyard of the visitors' centre at a cool 22mph.

it was all i could do to deftly steer through the car park and seamlessly join the A59 towards colne, accelerating all the while while yanking as hard as i could on my sram500/TRP spyre combo.

as i type this, i've just hurtled past milton keynes. i've been on the move solidly since 2:45 yesterday afternoon. i expect the only way i can stop this bike will be to crash it into the english channel.

    amey was right!
