I have an insurance question, that hopefully someone can help with.
My brother was driven into a couple of weeks ago, a learner driver pulled onto a roundabout as my brother was going round, and has smashed into his rear door, so door is knackered as is the rear panel, and unsure if there is any damage to sub frame etc. Guy at the scene admitted fault, swapped details etc, all seemed fine.
He rang his insurance company straight away, and they said they would ring the other partys insurer(LV) and get it all sorted, since then my brother has rang his insurer every day and has been told that they can't get through to LV, and they are only allowed to wait on the phone for 10 minutes on hold, they have told him that he can claim on his own insurance, but he would then have to pay his excess and try and claim it back.
Anyone got any tips he can do to try and get LV to actually sort this out, is he allowed to call LV himself?
Register a formal complaint with the insurer and give them a time frame in which to resolve it before he contacts the ombudsman.
Maybe also search in this thread or the motorbike thread for that 3rd party company that handles insurance claims and bitch-slaps your insurance co. for you.
Yes, just got him to fire in a formal complaint, so hopefully that will help.
Ah a third party could be interesting, he has a 4 week old son, so time poor, so if there was someone who could take some of this off his hands that would be handy.
