  • I'm sure it has been talked about, but is it possible to service the bearings on an SP 12mm Thru axle dynamo hub and if so, is there a video or manual anywhere? Google is coming up short.
My front and rear wheel on my Fairlight have both developed a bit of lateral play and I want to tighten them up. Rear is Bitex hub and quite easy, but not sure about the SP.

My theory is that the Fairlight axles are a tiny bit too thick because they seem to undo/tighten the bearing preload as I remove and insert them. I have a set of DT Swiss wheels that have interchangeable end caps and I don't have the same issue with them. I'll look at getting some aftermarket axles as well because if I'm right, it will stop it happening again, and I would also prefer not to need a multitool to change a puncture.

  • Afaik they’re non user serviceable. You’ll probably have to send them off to be repaired. How old are they?

  • SP not serviceable, if its fucked soon after purchase, worth speaking to the seller, AFAIK Ison will just replace is considered warranty
