Sticking with 105 10-speed will give you more choice over your rear mech. You could grab some 5700 shifters (10spd, cables under the tape) which will play nicely with either a 10speed GS mech (but not Tiagra) or you could use a 9spd mtb mech. I had this set up on my CDF, with an XT mech and it worked well with a 11-36t cassette.
Got this CDF 2nd hand this year and it is basically a 2014 spec on a 2018 ish frame. Have upgraded the wheels to some handbuilt DT swiss something on bitex hubs from LBS and the brakes are fine for me.
Live in a houseshare so can't really justify a road bike, even though I'm road riding weekly with mates at the moment. My CDF basically does my road riding, commuting to work, sometimes about town and hopefully touring next year. Never upgraded a groupset before but I would like a better shifting groupset with more range at the back and some levers that don't have the cables out the side but still work with the current TRP cable brakes. Any ideas? Cheers
