  • Sadly, I suspect you’ll then encounter why it’s there..

  • I wasn't available for this last year, but will be this and year and shall give it a bash on the mountain bike, so it will be as off-road as I can make it.

  • You talking 35h cycling there.

  • Inspired by this, I did a stint in my local forum yesterday to correct Anti-LTN misinformation that was being peddled. I'd say it's easy, but the truth is it's exhausting to reason with people who present evidence which contradicts their own position...

  • my local forum

    IRL or internet?

    Kudos either ways!

  • I mean, I wasn't going to do it, then I saw the instagram post and my god that chap's so damn handsome and athletic looking if I could do anything to be more like him I'd jump at the chance

  • Online, the EDF :/ thanks.

...I had a look and found the patch I mentioned!

  • Also riding in the winter is crap. This seems amplified this year given how much I was able to ride during the summer.
I’m over it and it’s not even really started.
Two punctures in the last three rides. The I’m not cold but if it was just a little colder I would be. The grime that covers your bike even on a crisp dry day. The constantly cleaning your bike. Ugh!!

  • 'road tubeless is pish'(TM) buttttttt I do kinda like having 30mm tubeless tyres on the road winter bike at this time of year - nice and plush and less worry while cycling in the lanes. not foolproof of course but think it is one use case where road tubeless may be better than tubed - don't need to run stupid high PSIs because not going fast, which mitigates one of the main complaints of road tubeless (i.e. sealant pishing everywhere before it's had a chance to seal due to high PSIs)

tempted to do the F500 on 38s tbh

  • full length mudguards might make it a bit easier?

I always did one 'treat' day on the fancy road bike in Festive 500, usually a ride to Henley; flat so its even more fun.

  • Got a nice route for that?

  • I really need someone to sell me their 60cm Bokeh/ Secan insert other trendy frameset ASAP!

@PhilDAS the Kingston wheelers Audax routes head that way. Gently Bently, Wander Wye erm can’t recall the others.

  • ha! its awful till Ascot but this is what I did: https://www.strava.com/activities/233851817

  • constantly cleaning your bike

I oiled the chain three times in the 1,000 miles since the beginning of October. When it gets really muddy as I don’t have mudguards the bidon gets dirty which is annoying. With all the cafes closed it doesn’t really matter when yourself is beyond cafe dirty.

  • Guessing Rainham might have some lorry stops, might be the one good thing

  • winter riding with no indoor cafe stops has been truly pish, deffo

  • The constantly cleaning your bike.

I have a great tip for this.

  • It was -1C on the Garmin yesterday. I had long finger gloves but they were my summer gloves so my hands were at the 'this is quite uncomfortable' level so we ducked into a cafe to hold onto some coffee cups. That was nice.

  • Put the bike next to a crate of beer.

  • I saw him halfway round. It looked absolutely terrible.

Same, I usually charge my Garmin on the move but I think it was too cold to take any charge as it only started working after I'd ducked into a cafe with it.

  • That wasn't half way!

  • would you mind sharing your route you did single speed that year? I would like a 500km option outta london - but too lazy to plan.

  • It wasn't quite out of london. Nice route though for the most part. Used my mum's house as a base to cleanup, eat and have a nap.

  • isn't it usually referred to as -1G as Garmin seems to have its own temperature scale that never quite aligns with the actual temperature
