Many years ago a friend visited a flatmate and had a cheap video camera, the Fischer Price one. A similar type had been for some of the footage in Slacker - Richard Linklaters movie.
On that basis we sold the camera to the London Film Museum.
That was the early 90's so it should be back in fashion anytime soon.
I know people are using shit analogue image recording for hipster points, but they are not pursuing high fidelity in the way that still happens with audio.
