I think commenting on that particular issue in Irish politics is generally worth avoiding entirely for non-Irish people.
Avoidance is cowardice, there’s no justification for a non-united Ireland.
More than half of the NI population are British and there is a very real likelihood of a deadly response to any attempt to change their nationhood. Many in the Republic don’t really fancy the cost of taking on that basket case either.
