Nice nice nice niiiiice.
Incredible that it got junked!Same quandary over the Orange fenders here: a junk frame that is still too nice for plastics.

Right?? Maybe one day if I fall upon some extra ££. If I end up loving the build it may deserve them eventually.
Re the bike being scrapped; believe they were sold built up like this which may explain things a bit more.. not the prettiest looking

Excellent find. it beggars belief that someone would even consider junking a frame like this! Crazy Evans cycles!

From what I hear they'd get plenty bikes scrapped like this. A fair amount did go to charity I believe but some perhaps didn't make the cut?

Slow but sure progress today. Picked up some Mavics for £79. Pedals and rear derailleur also arrived in the post!
Finally cleaned the bike up and started assembling at last, starting to look a bit more like a bike.
Just awaiting shifters and big boy MTB cassette now.. -

nicely done
Hello ladies and gents, long time lurker here.. Now a first time poster.
This old beauty was rescued a while ago from a skip outside an Evans cycles (presumed a throwaway trade-in) by my brother. It has been ridden and checked over thoroughly, built up initially as a bit of a beater/pub bike flat bar cruiser. Since then it has sat in the shed as parts have been gradually picked from it to facilitate other builds. Through a recent turn of events, the frameset has now fallen into my possession and it’s time to start building!
Here’s what’s in the post so far after gleaning classifieds and eBay:
-Apex 10 spd shifters
-Sram MTB mech Gx 2.1 10 spd
-Shimano HG 11-42 cassette (I bloody hope this works)
-Nuke proof flat pedals (nice change from clipless for once)
-Mavic Ksyrium wheels
Also to add from the parts bin:
-I’ve got a load of spare tyres from cross so will throw on a lovely pair of Spesh Tracers (700x33)
Headset and BB have been looked over and are mint (thank god) so hopefully the budget should stay under £200 for this build.
Intended use is a bit of light touring/gravel trips over the summer. very much debating adding velo orange fenders and a basket so I can be super trendy, yet this will cost more than the whole bike..
May also throw on some SPDs and give cross a go on it for a laugh!
Stay tuned! Any input welcome :-)
Pictured is the bike with some 10spd campag (which I decided against, maybe for another build eh?) and some broken wheels for reference.
