I’ve have Finisterre and Howies. No doubt they’ve changed their lines but neither of mine are similar to the basic round-neck, short-sleeve Rapha merino baselayers (best baselayers eva). Neither are good under (for example) an ‘aero’ jersey or similar.
I have given up waiting for Rapha to restock and have just bought some of the 200gsm dhb baselayers. They seem pretty close to what I was after. Maybe less usable in the warmer temps, but still stretchy, close fitting, comfortable, warm.

Are Finisterre or Howies suitable for higher tempo road riding under a slim jacket or are they more causal riding orientated? If the latter is new Rapha as good as the old stuff? My old Rapha base layer is now 9 years old and has a ridiculous amount of use.
