I suppose I really should have known that, given that I was brought up to believe that PZ was the end point of driver design and everything else was inferior foreign crap. In a pre-Victor Kiam instance of "I liked the product so much I bought [a tiny part of] the company", my dad bought shares in GKN in the early 60s.
It isn't, that's an urban legend. Pozidrive was designed to be more resistant to cam-out than Phillips, but cam-out is a bug rather than a feature in all the common screw heads.
