i must say I've never really found the normal ends to be a problem, but i do dislike it when you get one that's all baggy and you have to mangle it to stay on the cable, usually when using a brake end on a gear cable.

Same, but the idea of buying a set of cable ends that'd potentially last forever as opposed to them being a disposable thing does appeal.
As a serial component swapper I've gotten pretty good at crimping normal ones on in such a way that I can remove them and possibly re-use but these seem like a better, and much more aesthetically pleasing way to go.

I've also been playing with making my own using thin brass tubing - it's soft enough to crimp onto the cable, snip with dicutters and file to a nice finish.
