  • I was in the home end for the Oxford game, 8 year old me in absolute bits when that winner went in. Dark years down there (as you well know!), glad things seem a bit more rosy for both now - never quite understood the anti orient sentiment that emerged amongst ST holders when we ended up in the same league again years later. Apparently Orient celebrated us going down, suspect it may have been them going up...

  • Ouch.... yeah, that was quite a mix of emotions that day. Of course we celebrated like mad, but we’d have been even happier if Oxford had stayed up somehow. If Northampton had won at Grimsby that day then we could have lost and still gone up. There was a fair bit of animosity from U’s fans after that, which I mostly countered by asking what would they have done had the situation been reversed. As you say, it’s good that both teams are on a more stable footing nowadays, your years with Kassam and ours with Bechhetti are best forgotten....
