  • That's a good point. In a race you'd finish the stage on the insert and then leave it with a friendly marshal once you've put a tube in. Out in the hills youd have to put it in your bag

  • If the hole is too big to plug, the tyre is probably too knackered to put a tube in anyway.

  • I can reveal that when you've been going to the pump track with your little bike trying to manual your trail bike is very much not what you've got used too.

  • The DHL delivery driver has, rather than scanning the YT Dirt Love back into the warehouse so that it can be returned to YT in Germany, stolen it. Presumably because he told the system that he'd delivered it on the Wednesday when he just turned up, took a photo of the door and fucked off, so he can't now admit that he actually tried to deliver it on the Friday and my girlfriend made him take it back.

I don't know what I can do now.

  • Out of interest when YT told you to refuse the delivery why did they expect the carrier to return it to them? Had they paid for a return upfront?

  • I believe it's fairly common that if you refuse the delivery then the parcel is returned to the sender.

Obviously if the driver steals it then that throws a bit of a sabot in the gears of this particular process however.

  • I believe it's fairly common that if you refuse the delivery then the parcel is returned to the sender.

100%, it’s standard practise, especially if the package appear to be damaged.

  • Had they paid for a return upfront?

The delivery already been paid for, if it’s not delivered, it get return to sender.

  • Hmmmm, never really thought of 'return to sender' as anything other than misaddressed bank statements.

I can see the loophole your delivery driver has chosen to exploit in the case of high value items

  • Moreso with COVID-19 mean they no longer do signed delivery.

  • I am wondering whether I should/there is any point in referring this to Action Fraud/the coppers. The driver has stolen the bike, it appears to me- and it’s an open and shut case.

  • Did you get your refund? If not, it's been stolen from you, I'd report it to 111 as a theft.

    Reasonable grounds to suspect a theft has occurred (from memory, the "5 fingers of theft" that need to all be true for something to be considered theft);

Someone has dishonestly(1) appropriated(2) goods(3) belonging to you(4) with the intention of permanently depriving you of it(5).

1 - They said it was delivered signed for, which is false
2 - It has been taken, ie. it's not with you right now
    3 - It's a thing/bike
4 - You paid for it and have a receipt
5 - They haven't said they borrowed it or are going to give it back

  • Reckon they’d actually investigate?

I guess if I can give YT a crime number that might free up my refund.

  • Very unlikely. But the crime number would let YT and DHL you are taking it seriously.

  • Check your torque people!

    I just read this as

    Check your torque people

    as opposed to

    Check your torque, people

Then I realised Dammit probably has torque people. People who torque for him.

I supposed getting a torque-people checking person is the next step. To check the torque people are torquing.

    Sorry for dredge

  • oh jeez I hadn’t seen what this thread is currently about.

    Soz Neil.

  • I got some high value phones & a fancy ipad I never ordered from O2 a while back, addressed to me business. I’m not one of their customers.

That was a fucking pita to sort. This sounds even more annoying.

  • Yikes! You almost got scammed.

  • what has the response from dhl been?

He claimed to have delivered it on the Wednesday, ask DHL to provide you with the proof of delivery from the Wednesday. Surely a photo of a door without the package being in the photo isn't enough proof.

It should really be YT chasing up DHL, it's YT that have the contract with DHL.

I'd be trying to get the chargeback via credit card done asap...

  • I've reported the bike as stolen, given YT the crime reference number, and called DHL to give them the crime reference number as well.

  • Seems amazing the driver would steal it, DHL should be able to trace him immediately.
I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped it off back at the depot in a way that would make it get lost, to cover up for lying about the earlier delivery etc.

Either way, shitty situation, hope you get your money back soon.

  • I hope that’s enough for DHL to take it seriously and actually find out what happen to that particular package.

I agree, he probably deliberately didn't scan it back in, but it's sat in a corner whilst he hopes the the situation will just go away and he won't have to explain that he lied about delivering it on the 25th.

I was trapped in a situation that just kept going round in circles - I call DHL customer service, they call the depot, depot manager tells them the parcel was delivered, customer service tell me that, I say "no, what happened was", customer service say "right, I've escalated to management" and absolutely nothing happens.

This was what happened every day since Wednesday the 25th, so today I reported it stolen to break out of this ridiculous cycle that was going nowhere.

  • Yeah I agree that the DHL guy has probably left the parcel at the depot knowing it will just become 'lost'

Absolute nightmare. I hope you getting a crime number gives DHL a kick up the arse to sort it.

It certainly highlights how ridiculous it is that during covid all courier companies rely the drivers simply photographing a package at someones door to prove they delivered it. Nothing stopping them simply taking it after they photograph has been taken. Easy to claim someone else must have stolen it. Cunts.

  • The guy from YT emailed me today saying "it's unfair to say that we sent you the bike in error as you cancelled the order on the day we dispatched the bike".

Problem with that is I cancelled on the 13th and they sent it on the 21st. They'd not processed the cancellation eight days after I'd sent it - and got an automated ticket that acknowledged the cancellation.
