    Two reasons, 1, that always happens because for some reason changes in the current retail price of Rolex and Omega always seem to have an immediate effect on the secondary market. 2, due to the movement change the old one is likely to be seen as more authentic and original, hence more desirable.

  • Calibre 1861 didn’t go to the moon so it’s not like it’s the original model they’re replacing. The biggest change is the bracelet and I much prefer the look of the new one.

  • Yeah, and I think that's how most people will feel, though the 861/1861 were flown for years and coaxial is quite a big change. Seems they’ve managed to keep the flight certification which is pretty crucial.

    The dial is the thing – it has the potential to be a good improvement over the current model if they get it right and make it look more like the vintage ones (supersized logo notwithstanding). I thought the current Moonwatch dial looked oddly flat and a bit "off". Couldn't quite put my finger on it.

  • I think 861 was recertified for the shuttle and 1861 is still used on the ISS
