Look at the prices of Rolex as an example. NOS prices jump up when the new line comes out.

I read somewhere that it will be re-certified by nasa for mars in 2024 and will have improved water resistance- I hope this is true.

I'd buy it now. And if you like the new one more, sell it and buy the new one and and with the difference, buy a porsche.

The logos… why did they make them so much bigger… Seems like they always have to mess one thing up.

Not sure I can see a difference in the logo size.

Rolex (and patek) are not good examples for the rest. People even buy that hideous air king with the 5s because its price will go up eventually.

As Howard said, mostly because they can, but they have been using the co-axial escapement as a reason to hike prices for years. Looks like it will have their master chronometer certification and there's also definitely a higher cost in achieving that. Applied logo (maybe only on the sapphire sandwich?). Maybe a few other things.

Look at the two dials next to each other. The Omega symbol is sliiiightly smaller and the word PROFESSIONAL is about the same size but the OMEGA and "Speedmaster" text in particular are quite a lot* bigger on the new one.

I do like that they divided the second track into thirds to match up with the actual beat rate (which they've done on other models already).

Every time I see a Speedmaster it reinforces my conviction that they should be on a strap rather than a bracelet.

Two reasons, 1, that always happens because for some reason changes in the current retail price of Rolex and Omega always seem to have an immediate effect on the secondary market. 2, due to the movement change the old one is likely to be seen as more authentic and original, hence more desirable.
