  • Those are nice.

    Slices of marble or porcelain?

  • 👌 my guess is porcelain onyx.

  • Correct but not from Mandarin Stone.

Thought you might be the one to spot them!

  • DM me if you want details. Not expensive.....

  • I'd need to finish the spenny kitchen before tackling my bathroom.

  • They look really good. What’s the size? Full 60x120?

  • Yep.

Our tallest bathroom wall fits two exactly.

    £27 per sqm

  • Completed yesterday, after a three hour wait for the payment to go through. Thanks, discount online solicitors.

  • That must be SO satisfying.

  • lots selling by a housing association and thought it might not be too risky...

    Hah. Hah hah.

  • Like those (and normally not really my vibe)

  • Sorry to not reply sooner. Yeah. I think it's the boiler. Heating on ALL evening. Boiler pressure high. SPLURGE.
I drained some out of a rad and then turned the boiler off.

  • How do I work out the correct height of my dado rail in the bathroom? Do I just work out how many full tiles will take it between 1.2 and 1.2m?

  • Exchanged, completion on 16th.

  • We moved over to NI on Friday 13th Nov and it's good to be back by the sea. Had my lunch today 30 secs from the house, on a bench looking out to Scotland.

Mostly unpacked now, and contemplating what order to do the various bits of work required -

    1. Re-rendering and roof/chimney fixes to stop damp.
    2. Lowering ground level to side of house by 1 foot+ as some utter pellet thought it a
good idea to raise it so it's currently a foot higher than internally.
    3. Rewiring
    4. Perhaps knocking through front and back living rooms.
    5. Decorating.
    6. Probable replacement of uPVC windows and external doors with something less bollocks.

Can't afford all of it now, but we'll see how we go.

  • Stunning.
Not sure I could ever leave London but shots like that make me feel it could be possible some day...

  • TBH 5 years ago we weren't thinking about leaving London at all.
3 years ago we were tired of the place (the noise, traffic, cost) and we made the move to Bath.
And less than a year ago we realised that all the things we really were looking for - nice big house, decent garden, close to sea, close to nice countryside and places to visit and go camping - were all MUCH cheaper in Northern Ireland...
I have a sneaking suspicion that 15 years from now we'll be in a 1 pub village on the west coast of ireland somewhere.
But for now this is all good :)

  • Congrats indeed!

  • That sounds wonderful.
I've moved to a place without traffic or noise (yeah really) but still love the vibrancy London offers too much. I imagine there will come a day when I have had enough of it all and want an even quieter life (the amount of people who drop litter round here is still a trigger for me) and may end up converting some building (thinking chapel) in rural Norfolk.
Love Bath, were visiting a fair bit, staying in an awesome B n B called the Dye house.

  • Amazing. I have to say that view was very tempting during our search (I remember looking at the listing for that dark blue terraced house, but I wasn't going to go for it, looked mad though). I seriously considered the old coast guard house just down the road. And had yours in my favourites for a long time!

    Very happy for you.

This is where we're moving to. Quite a lot of work ahead of us. We may still follow in your footsteps in 5 or 10 years' time!

  • Bath was lovely, but too expensive to buy in and not close enough to the sea.
    That BnB looks lovely.
My current plan is to get into a bit of sea swimming. There's a big local 'scene', particularly since covid/lockdown/WFH.
There's a local meet about 200 yards from the house called the Chunky Dunkers. I'm just plucking up the courage to go down there this weekend for my first swim...
