I'm considering 2 options for my turntable upgrade.
I've been offered a Thorens TD166 mkII for £200 (no cartridge).
Or I've got my Rega P3, RB220 arm (new), upgrade external rewiring kit, and an E3. All this as a kit and needs to be built.
Main question is which is likely to sound best? (Could use the E3 on the Thorens as stopgap although I have my eyes on either 2M Blue or AT V540)
What is it about your current setup that you feel is lacking? What condition is the Thorens, will it need a service?
What amp and speakers are you using?
I'd choose the Thorens. I had one (foolishly sold it when I moved to Italy) with a Nagaoka cart on it, and loved it. I think the Rega is more 'stable' if that makes sense, in that you won't need to do much to it, whereas the Thorens is perhaps a little more picky. What phono stage are you using?
