The headtube cable stops are really annoying on my cdf when using a rando rack.

I have just received my Equilibrium 931 Disc, I see that the previous owner has used it with 160 mm rotor in the back, while by default it has been 140 (in original spec). Should I switch back to 140 for the peace of mind or can 160 be used just as well?
EDIT: just got a quick reply from Genesis that 160 is officially approved by them.

Winterised equilibrium, quite heavy but comfortable for long days

Based on a lack of commuting and wanting to use by CdF I've removed the front and rear racks, mudguards and got some QR adaptors for my 650b wheelset with WTB gravel tyres. Hopefully I'll get to ride it now...

Hi Genesis lads n lassies,
I have a 2017 Tour de Fer 20 and im looking to replace a broken rear mudguard.
Looks like its about 45mm wide. The vague spec list highlights "extra long chromoplastic" so is the SKS Chromoplastic road essentially the same?
Also, there is an enclosed channel on the underside of guard for the rear light cable, coming from the front Dyno hub. Do the SKS have this?
(To be honest I might just get rid of the guard mounted light, bit of a faff to rewire but it is quite a nice feature)

They don't, but you can just tape it down to the inside of the mudguard, apparently aluminium tape is good

Ah, I have just sold my 2017 TdF 20 and given away the spare guards I had to the charity bike shop locally.
I had a warranty replacement as mine snapped at the bridge due to the stupid design. They couldn't replace with OEM so I got SKS Bluemels with cable canal/channel (depending on language) so if they have that feature it should be mentioned.
To be honest I could probably go down to the shop and dig it back out one day this week if you wanted?

Hey, well mine snapped at exactly the same place so I dont think I want OEM, thanks for the offer though.
I ordered Chromoplastics but they haven't arrived yet. What were the Bluemels like?
Thing is I cut the connector to the light off to get the wire out of the channel...christ knows how I will sort that out. Think the games a bogey on that front.

Sorry it was the Bluemels that I donated - they were good and didn't have the same fault as OEM, the clamp at brake bridge wraps around the guards rather than going through it. It was weirdly short though, which I didn't really understand.

Ach well, Chromoplastics will do the job. Ive gone a good 7 or 8 months with the broken ones duct taped in various ways.

Genesis Equilibrium build: based around a frame from Freewheel and a serious raiding of my spare parts drawer. The idea was an audax/light touring frame that I could fix/maintain entirely myself, quite cheaply. Ended up doing all of the work myself, so quite a success!
Photos should be attached, somehow stupidly put the front wheel on backwards whilst finishing the build- please ignore this!
Next: Fitting an 11-36 cassette, new chain, and a GS derailleur for a low climbing gear. Going to fit a lowsaddle longflap and a bagman QR for commuting and trips.

tidy! what's the dangly bit on the back of the saddle?
-
• #1367
Ah you’d have to ask @tomsvoboda about that! ;)
I bought an old SMP saddle from him and he’d kept the tag on the rails intact, I haven’t actually ridden this bike that much yet but it seems like a nice touch! It might end up replaced by a homemade safety pizza eventually though.Cheers!

They're just little Made in Italy labels SMP puts on their saddles

These frames are really nice for the money.
Seatpost deliberately backwards?

Got this CDF 2nd hand this year and it is basically a 2014 spec on a 2018 ish frame. Have upgraded the wheels to some handbuilt DT swiss something on bitex hubs from LBS and the brakes are fine for me.
Live in a houseshare so can't really justify a road bike, even though I'm road riding weekly with mates at the moment. My CDF basically does my road riding, commuting to work, sometimes about town and hopefully touring next year. Never upgraded a groupset before but I would like a better shifting groupset with more range at the back and some levers that don't have the cables out the side but still work with the current TRP cable brakes. Any ideas? Cheers

105 10 speed mech but think can only go to a 11-32 cassette as short or medium cage. Currently on a 11-28 which with a 34 small ring up front if fully loaded and hilly touring won't be great
Doing it right now! Cheers @amey
