  • Hi Genesis lads n lassies,

I have a 2017 Tour de Fer 20 and im looking to replace a broken rear mudguard.

Looks like its about 45mm wide. The vague spec list highlights "extra long chromoplastic" so is the SKS Chromoplastic road essentially the same?

Also, there is an enclosed channel on the underside of guard for the rear light cable, coming from the front Dyno hub. Do the SKS have this?

(To be honest I might just get rid of the guard mounted light, bit of a faff to rewire but it is quite a nice feature)

  • Ah, I have just sold my 2017 TdF 20 and given away the spare guards I had to the charity bike shop locally.

I had a warranty replacement as mine snapped at the bridge due to the stupid design. They couldn't replace with OEM so I got SKS Bluemels with cable canal/channel (depending on language) so if they have that feature it should be mentioned.

To be honest I could probably go down to the shop and dig it back out one day this week if you wanted?

  • Hey, well mine snapped at exactly the same place so I dont think I want OEM, thanks for the offer though.

I ordered Chromoplastics but they haven't arrived yet. What were the Bluemels like?

Thing is I cut the connector to the light off to get the wire out of the channel...christ knows how I will sort that out. Think the games a bogey on that front.
