  • Does anyone know what this is? It was near the top of the dooe frame and is hinged. It screwed into the side of the frame so that the hinged part wraps around the beading. Our first thought was a child lock or something similar but the hinged part didn't get far enough across the door to stop it opening.

  • It's a security latch. Used to keep the door from opening if installed correctly. The curved bit slides down and locks when flush with the door usually in conjunction with a door chain. Not terribly good which is why they fell out of favour. More of a 60-70s era thing. I haven't seen one in a long time.
