Yeah, baffling that one - only thing I can think is that it had sat for a while and a road test was suggested to unbind the calliper... but then why would you MOT it rather than get someone to just check the brakes.

A road test isn't going to make the friction material grow back though. Less than 1.5mm left is deeply sketchy.

And suggests it really wasn’t looked after or cared for, performance car with no brakes.

True, perhaps they wanted them freed up before changing the pads. Could have been a free retest I suppose, cheaper than paying for a mechanic to check.🤷‍♂️
