  • The jump bike is a lot of fun, and of course I have the YT arriving next week- so if anyone does actually want to enjoy themselves whilst working on skills, do give me a shout before I refuse the delivery.

  • Inspire, don't influence.

  • Thats looking very good for you first time on the jump bike. I'm far from an expert on jumps and don't feel qualified to give anyone advice but in regards to what you say about stiff back, even in normal riding I have to consciously remind my self to try stay a little more relaxed around the shoulders and chest. I do a little ritual of rolling my shoulders and pretend I'm jelly before dropping into any chunky trails. It helps enormously but still catch my self tightening up mid run.

I really really want a jump bike now, I live within 40 minutes drive of 3 pump tracks. Seems daft not to

  • Everyone needs a jump bike in their life.

  • Speaking of which, "my" YT arrives tomorrow, hopefully I get to the DHL person in time to refuse it before they drop it off and scarper.

  • I suspect if you try to refuse delivery they'll just take a photo of you in front of the box, politely if loudly declining delivery, and claim it's been delivered.

  • That's entirely possible - but it's what YT have told me to do, so I'll do it to the letter and then see what happens.

  • Pics of the YT....?

  • It never turned up- DHL failed to show.

  • DHL have taken a photo of my front door, but didn't knock, so I didn't answer it, so they say that they "left parcel in a safe place", but we don't know where that is. It's not outside my flat.

Their contact centre said that if they've lost it I have to contact YT for a refund - I asked why YT would refund it if DHL lost it and they couldn't answer.

DHL are (currently, it's a dynamic situation) the very worst courier company operating here.

  • Any and all interactions between myself and YT are cursed.

  • On bike storage for a spare tube and so on- obviously a Velcro strap is very fashionable, but with British mud now very much in adundance it makes the strap look like a very California centric choice.

What’s a good, small, easy to swap solution- a standard saddle pack? Strikes me that that’s a prime mud spatter zone. A small frame bag? Something else?

  • @leggy_blonde wont like this but handlebar bag is at the least muddy position on the bike

  • I've just had a similar experience with them except the photo they took is very obviously not of the right building and they even listed the address of where they did deliver it to, a place over 1.5 miles away. We went over to see if they had it and apparently the courier took it back so now no one knows where it is

  • I just spoke to DHL, they still don’t know where the YT parcel is, 60 hours after their driver said he delivered it.

  • maybe its time to apply to be director of global customer service and see if you can sort it out from the inside?

  • DHL guy just tried to deliver it, my girlfriend was home and tried to refuse it, which is what YT asked us to do, but the delivery guy couldn't understand what she meant as his English wasn't up to it.

She chased him out to his van after he'd walked off and got him to take the parcel back, but who knows what he's going to do with it now.

The tracking still shows that the parcel was delivered on Wednesday, and DHL customer services have said it will be 3-5 days before they get back to me with what's happened to the parcel.

I asked what happens if the driver sells the bike on eBay, given that the tracking shows it was delivered on Wednesday and they said they didn't know.

  • When we have to refuse a package that was damaged, the driver (DPD) have no ideas that we can refuse it in order to get it send back to the distributor.

I geniunely believe they’re very poorly treated and honestly not surprise he tried to walk away.

  • HSBC’s dispute team have processed my application - made when I had spent 10 hours on hold to YT with no response, and no response to my cancellation email.

I have now made contact with YT, albeit to no actual conclusion as they’re saying that they won’t do anything until DHL admits that they have the bike and are returning it.

So I’m uncertain what to do - I have now had contact, but we are still beyond the refund time-limit that YT specify on their site. Why are we past that time-limit? Because YT ignored my cancellation email and sent me the bike anyway, which DHL then massively fucked around with the delivery thereof.

DHL guy clearly lied to his boss and said he’d delivered the bike on Wednesday, presumably to meet a target, so I think the problem there is going to be how he now squares the delivery being refused for a return-to-sender situation when he marked it down as a signed for delivery days ago.

Maybe I should call the disputes team.

  • Okay, so first time it was “delivered” but it wasn’t. So second attempt despite it being marked as delivered.

So DHL knew it wasn’t delivered in the first place when they attempt a second time?

  • No, their systems are wholly dependent on the driver marking stuff honestly.

  • Just had an email from DHL customer services confirming that they delivered the bike on Wednesday.

    So this is going well.

  • Bad enough on a road bike but fuck all that shit on the bars of an MTB. Bumbag for big days out, innertube and pump strapped to the bottom of the seat tube for local laps/enduro races.

  • One thing I wonder about is the rim insert- presumably to use a tube I’d have to pull that out. I think I’d rather ride the insert back to the car, but a race situation would change that.
