Experienced a senior consultant at an LA who always said “I think you’re missing the point, we need to be strategic” as a way of shutting down debate (and with the not subtle agenda of feathering his nest). Was never genuinely held to account or asked to explain the strategy he was proposing, but any challenge was blustered out of existence (actually, think there was plenty of gaslighting going on).
He walked away after two awful Ofsted inspections but left me with lasting distrust of anyone who bandies around the term “strategic” without something tangible behind it

Also, this person is wrong on 'strategic', although I got the 'totally redundant' joke.
