Here in China, we don't have black friday because it is a filthy capitalist festival of consumerism. Instead we have Double 11, which used to be a one day discount day on 11 November (historically known as singles day cos 11 11 looks like lonely people standing by themselves) but now lasts for about two weeks, during which time every single fucking store you have ever even browsed on taobao will text you (you have to link your taobao account to your phone number (which is linked to your passport, lolz)) about their AMAZING DEALS. Heaven forbid you buy something because then you will be texted into oblivion as the store begs you to leave them a good review, sometimes offering you a "free gift" in return, which of course you will also be texted to remind you to review.
And when it's over, we have 12.12, which is a totally made up festival but involves MORE horrific banner ads on taobao and MORE nagging text messages.
On the plus side, no one in China uses email so at least I don't get any emails about it.
