  • I like them tellies but they look wicked to get knocked over by a tumbling toddler

  • Front edge is ready for sticky fingerprints too..

  • So sticky. Filthy little fuckers.

  • Also look like a chalk board

  • get they cables routed up the leg

  • Thats bullshit, I mean you probs want it and dont want to cut your nose off to spite your face but fs waiting until the last min and then pulling that trick.

    Crap.

  • Yeah - that’s been remedied although I think they could do something nicer than the cheap plastic sleeve. Could easily route it through the leg bit like this

  • If the huge glass coffee table, hexagonal marble nesting tables, cream rug, rattan foot stool etc etc don’t get em first

  • No corners on the coffee table though, so winning there.

  • Didn’t clock the glass top at the first glance - just thought it was pretty careless of someone just leaving those two planks of wood there.

  • That is less than ideal.

Going off our recent experience I'd say it's next to impossible to get a mortgage approved in that time frame at the moment.

  • Mine has built up a scratch resistant coating of toddler finger grease across the lower third of the screen.

  • Yep, payment rails will make a difference, sending a CHAPS payment online is news to me as this was only over the phone/in-branch previously.

If anyone wants bank-specific workarounds for sending large payments then shout.

  • You're thinking too up-market for us! We just used marine ply panelling and some resistant paint... we then used a (gasp) shower curtain as there's another shower head in the ceiling. Actually quite a cheap (small) bathroom in the end... ~£3,500k

  • Nice! And thanks for sharing...

  • TV looks a perfect fit, get that shallow alcove filled in to hid all your AV stuff and a Sonos beam on top. Although I guess thats all getting ripped out.

I draw the line at those Coffee tables.

  • Looks like this is the option we are going for. Getting a cabinet built so the wire can be run into it from the rear leg.

So much better than above the fireplace

  • Looking at taking advantage of Black Friday deals. Anyone have recommendations in the Alarm department between Ring and Simplisafe? Basic alarm requirements, along with video feed and the option of monitoring if we choose to.

  • They have a couple of options:
    1) Second home for relatives - tighter affordability, based on neighbour's ages
    2) BTL - not normally allowed, (a few lenders allow regulated BTLs) but heftier deposit requirements and lenders and their valuers tend to dislike properties next door being purchased)
    3) Joint mortgage sole proprietor - Deeds in kids name, parents also on mortgage, avoids second home stamp duty. - Will be slow, also affordability driven as above.
If I was the neighbours, this is the way that I'd do it, but definitely won't be done in a week.

They could be minted and have large cash reserves, but none of the above will be quick, and the chances of getting a valuer round to value the property for mortgage purposes within a week are almost impossible at the moment.

  • Yeah, solid plan, our cabinet hides a nest of wires... hue bridge, ethernet switch, backup drive, Yale Alarm hub, Starling Hub, and all the plugs for that and Apple TV and Beam, thats a hell of a lot of plugs.

I need to remove that wall socket but I'm paranoid we will need to use it again someday... (Note cable tidy just for @6pt )

(And yes, I am a massive Taylor Swift fan).
