  • I wish I had cousins neighbours like yours. What a fucking dude!

  • Hi everyone, new to LFGSS.

Last night my Surly Cross check was taken when I popped into a wine shop on Blackstock road - N4. Was inside for 60 seconds and someone swooped in - we saw him, tried chasing, even hit him with a bottle of wine, but he sped off (with my pannier no-less). The owner of the shop was great and tried chasing after. He's the one who recommended LFGSS.

It's a dear bike to me, got it in NYC and moved to London with it last year.

Dark green, black fenders, rear rack. There aren't many Cross Checks around, it has plenty of little distinguishing features. Should I post those?

Would be immensely grateful to get it back - hell, I'd even give a reward for info or if you spot it to put a lock on it. I'd be able to identify it 100% based on a couple unique features. Any other tips or info to help with tracking a stolen bike are hugely helpful. Definitely learned my lesson.

  • SS black bike found in Westminster. I spotted it outside our office when leaving around 6.30 PM last night, and it was still here this morning. I've moved it inside where it'll be safe and am in contact with Paradise Cycles to try and track it down via the engravings on underside of bottom bracket.

I haven't had the chance to take more detailed shots or measurements but if this looks familiar please get in touch. It's by no means anything special and has a flat tire/wobbly headset, but with some TLC could be easily be road worthy.

    Hope this is picked up!

  • Saw the Bianchi in Victoria Park this afternoon. It was with a bunch of young people who were sitting around near the tennis courts.

  • Thanks! I went by after reading this but I think they'd left.

Do you remember what time you saw them?

  • It was around 3pm. About 8-10 of them, 14-17 years old, smoking dope, all black clothing. At least it's still in the area. I'm guessing it's the same one, noticed the bars.

  • Cheers- I'll keep trying. Thanks for letting me know

  • Hey all, my beautiful bike was stolen yesterday at the bottom of Broadway Market while I locked it up for just 40 mins to go for a run! So gutted - any help would be massively appreciated. She is a 17" Land Rover Ascot 2017 women's hybrid - don't see many Land Rover bikes around so she is quite distinct. Creamy white with black handles and seat. Only around 6 months old so in good condition. Thanks in advance!

  • Including the favourite NY Kryptonites

He did have to make a special tool for the NYs, but yeah, amazing. I picked up (agh puns...) lock picking during lockdown 1, learned a lot from his channel, including how shockingly easy it is for someone like him to defeat locks securing military ammo depots.

  • Hi everyone, my brother big bro got nicked from my building’s hallway between 3-4pm today, Sunday Nov 29, 2020.

    Location: E8, Hackney/London Fields

It’s an XL, with tan paint, purple oury grips, and a yellow bottle cage.

If anyone spots this online or wherever, I’d be keen to know and would happily post a reward if the info helps recover the bike.

    Thanks!

  • that's a nice build ^^

  • Is the Restrap framebag quite old? It looks like the orange cord is faded. If so that might be up for sale soon so could be used to trace the thief.

    New page fail

  • Yes, exactly. Also it has a Cinelli branded “jones h bar” style handle bar. Haven’t seen many of those out there, so would also be fairly traceable

  • Pics of Scott USA upthread removed as mate recovered his bike today! So if you do see this now, don't throw a lock on it anymore...

  • Any tips on how he recovered it?

  • Just luck. My mate was cycling on a bike he'd borrowed and saw a guy riding his. He followed him and fortunately the guy dismounted pretty soon, so my mate just sneaked up, grabbed it, said it was his, threw it over his should and cycled off.

The guy was saying that he had bought it, and my mate just said not my problem, lets call the police now if you want.

Had a feeling it would it turn up - had no parts on it worth stripping so not surprised to see someone riding it around locally.

  • wow that is good luck! seems mad that someone would be dumb enough so sell a stolen bike in the area they took it

  • i think the guy was lying and he was the one that stole it. Mate said he didn't protest much.

With ratty bikes i don't think it's that uncommon to see someone else riding your stolen bike. Another mate of mine saw someone riding his stolen bike once, but he was sat upstairs on a bus going the other way at the time so nothing he could do about it!

  • Mate said he didn't protest much

If you knowingly bought a stolen bike for a few quid, you wouldn't bother protesting much either I think.
