  • Our bathroom has a roll top with feet - it's a no from me. Bad use of space and more of a pain to clean.

That said I would deffo go for an ex.t stand bath if I engaged full on baller mode

  • Have you been going through my files like Amey does?

  • We had a similar 20k per day limit so transferred the money to our solicitor over several days. I think we also sent a small amount (£100 maybe) and got confirmation it had arrived before sending the big bucks.

  • That's another plan I had. We've already paid some up front for searches so have the payee details loaded. I will be confirming over the phone that the details are still the same then probably doing that.

  • Ticking lots of MA boxes there.

  • We have some subsidence and the insurance company had Geobear round to have a look. They took some samples of our soil/clay and apparently it wasn't suitable but it might have just been too expensive.

Our movement is minor though so doesn't actually need underpinning. Builders are due on Monday to start and should be finished in 2 weeks.

  • Yeah may not go that deep.... but prob some sort of pink.

  • Freestanding bath owners

Do you have a separate shower?

I have a roll top, and it's easy to clean around, easy to clean it, and it's lovely.

But... I don't have a separate shower yet, so that bit is a PITA. There's no really great solution to showering in a roll-top because there's really not a standing space given the entire bottom has curvature, and then shower curtains fit badly even with the right fittings, and yeah... it's a PITA.

If you have a separate shower, a freestanding bath is wonderful.

  • Aye until they want money.

  • Only partially correct, it depends on the bank and the account type...

    Barclays
    Personal: £10,000
    Premier: £30,000
    Business: £50,000
(new payee has a £2,000 limit for Personal accounts, and £5,000 to Premier accounts)

Lloyds Banking Group (Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland)
£25,000 (differs for Websaver or Express Cash accounts)

NatWest Group (RBS, NatWest and Ulster)
£20,000 (differs depending on the payment journey, type of account, and the use of a card reader)

    HSBC
    £25,000

    Santander
    £250,000

    Nationwide
    £10,000

    Danske
    £25,000

    AIB UK
£20,000 (differs depending on the authentication method)

    Revolut
£250,000 (daily and weekly limits based on tier)

    Etc.

  • We have some damp marks in our place. Some we've (hopefully) worked out and (hopefully) fixed but there are others that we haven't.

One is on a capped chimney breast and one appears to be totally random. Damp seems to be an area full of cowboys. Who is good to speak to about this in North London? Cheers

  • Yo. Hmu. I have too many. Putney.
Can even try and deliver a bunch by cargo bike.

  • I'll take as many as you can spare.
I can book a zipcar and collect from you if necessary..

  • Itll be good to see you.
Do you need them before the weekend?

  • No. But understand you’d like to get rid sooner rather than later. Early next week would be good for me, if your schedule allows

  • Just avoid any builder who has "damp" in their business name and you should be fine...

  • Cool list but those Barclays numbers are wrong. I sent a £100k free CHAPS payment online on Monday.

I suspect the other numbers are equally irrelevant if they only refer to Faster Payments.

  • transferred the money to our solicitor over several days

Some conveyancers have got annoyed by people doing this to avoid TT/CHAPS fees and will charge for their time spent reconciling X small payments.

  • Fortunately, after much frantic calling, he managed to get it back. He earned his money that day (much more than on other days).

This does seem to be the MO, ie live completions get 10x the focus of enquiries and searches tennis.

  • I wasn't avoiding CHAPS fees, I was avoiding talking to a bank.

  • Send me a pm and we can work it out. H

  • I do and will have a separate shower, so swinging towards a freestanding bath...

  • All these baths are shaped wrong and not deep enough.

I'm definitely going Japanese style for my next bath, I'm just going to buy it pre-made instead of throwing countless thousands into a hole in the ground.

My sister went for Omnitub when she was fitting her bathroom. They're very pleased with it. Presume fairly straightforward to install as they did the bathroom themselves.

  • I was just looking at their website funnily enough! I'd plan on fitting it myself I think.

Have they got a tank to fill it with?

Only issue for me with Omnitub is they only seem to come in white, which is fine if you want white. Cabuchon can make them in any colour (but I suspect are pricier).
