Ah sorry, makes total sense.
After all tires are only designed the way they are so they look cool. -

A wise decision made! Cycle Trucks are the perfect choice.

Today I too joined the cargo bike club! Needs a bit of fettling (bearings/pedals/seatpost/brakes) and some less draggy tyres, but it was pretty cheap (in cargo bike terms) and I feel it’s gonna be a game-changer...

Is this made by that chap who sells on EBay?

😍 really love those bars!
Whole bike is rad asf to be honest
-
• #5457
Not sure really - looks similar but this was just a gumtree job from a bloke in battersea.

What other cargo bikes apart from terns are flexible enough to be used by two, very different height, riders?
R&M Load & Packster both have similar amounts of adjustability.

This is such a sweet DIY job.

Welcome friend!

Thanks man! Gonna be picking peoples cargo-brains on here over the next few weeks and months as I get it dialled in.
First up is faster tyres and a longer seatpost, then I might look at some new bars, and maybe getting an aluminium cargo box made up for it... the plywood is a bit naff to my mind... -

I named them "Motocroose Bar". 🙃
That bike is my little test vehicle to see how many selfmade/modified parts i can add. Up next is a matching brake for the front.

It's bolted on the upper tabs on the back and through the bottom back mounting holes with longer brackets I think.
The canopy adds a whole extra layer of fun to this, so beware.
I strip ours once a year in the spring to get all the sultana's, rice cake, various other bits of crap out crammed everywhere.
And no, you cannot complete this task during afternoon naptime.

some less draggy tyres
That front wheel looks quite big, 24"?
You'd do well with something like a Schwalbe Marathon -

Didn’t realise you were ‘on here’. Love your stuff on Instagram.
You made the rear brake?
-
• #5466
I'm around here since 2010 but just changed the username to match my "business". Rear brake is my own creation. ✌
-
• #5467
Won't argue with that ;)
What mudguards are you using? -
• #5468
But i made some new struts because the ones included are really crappy.
-
• #5469
Ah I had my eye on those but my rear wheel is 29"
-

24” indeed. Thanks - I’ll check them out!
Anyone have any thoughts on groupset - currently 8spd gripshift which has seen better days.
Considering replacing either with 8spd Claris and trigger shifters or make the jump to Deore 10spd.Anyone know if a 10spd cassette would fit on the current free hub?
Edit: yes it will. Was the work of a moment to whip the other half’s 10spd 105 cassette onto the cargo bike.

It says black but the pictures look all shiny, are these really black?
-
• #5472
They are glossy black.

This friday I did the first test riding it! Almost fall over in the first turn, they are quite tricky to figure out :) Need som practice!
Just some adjustment of gears, fixing the chain tensioner thats coming loose and then some material for the cargo area. Anyone have a idea of a low price, plastic/wood based material thats suitable for this?

You actually don't turn with these, just pedal hard and keep going straight :)
Love it, thanks!
