Stupid question, and one I could just ask my solicitor, but I've spoken to them enough today

When buying this place, it wasn't a huge deposit, so transfer was easy. This time round I'm going to have to send about 70k with the rest coming from the sale of our place. When and how do I do that? Is it on the day or beforehand so that it's in place? Online I think I have a limit of 20k per day, do we need to go to a branch? I moved everything into the one account last week so at least it only has to come from one place.

The mortgage company we used sent our loan to the wrong bank account for our solicitor. An old one they had on file rather than the details he sent them. Fortunately, after much frantic calling, he managed to get it back. He earned his money that day (much more than on other days).

This does seem to be the MO, ie live completions get 10x the focus of enquiries and searches tennis.
