Just got my tea subscription through, quite an interesting selection. Got an oolong, a green, a darjeeling and a white which comes in these compressed serving cakes.

Quite into Lady Grey with Coconut milk (Alpro Barista stuff) at the moment. Like a slightly tropical vibe!

I had a dream that the awesome James McCarthy was in, I need to ring him now (superstitious about that!).
-
• #541
Are you still in touch with him?! I've not seen or heard from him in decades!

It's this https://www.curioustea.com/tea/subscription/discovery-tea-subscription/
The site also sells teas without a subscription

My recent redbush experiences:
Tick Tock Vanilla - very vanilla, reminiscent of ice cream. Very enjoyableDragonfly Tea, Cape Malay Chai - lovely spice, not too strong. I think it works well because the redbush is milder than black tea, so doesn't get as overpowering

Gave my wife a bodum teapot and some loose leaf teas for her birthday. We are drinking 2-3 pots of tea a day so getting through just under 30g of tea a day.
I know from buying coffee there is a considerable difference between buying 250g bags of beans and 1kg bags of beans. Where can I buy larger bags of quality tea leaves at more affordable prices?

Not sure how you measure “affordable” but back when I had the time and money to drink leaf tea, I used the Kent and Sussex tea and coffee co.; https://www.tea-and-coffee.com/?utm_source=2020+Newsletter+Customers&utm_campaign=3437963958-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_1_1_2021_11_9&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f42cc5a37b-3437963958-110427945&mc_cid=3437963958&mc_eid=4931271978
I include the email link with 20% off everything. Their basic Assam and Ceylon teas were really good.

I assume you know that you can steep loose leaf more than once? Many can be steeped 3-6 times depending on style and you often won't be getting the best steep until several in. I expect to get 4 cups per 2.5g/tsp, so would be looking at 48 cups for 30g worth. You are either a thirsty pair or using way to much tea.
Get a tea cosy if you're throwing away a lot because its cold or a smaller tea pot.

You can order directly from this guy who owns a farm in Wayanad, Kerala. Does a few different teas very nice. His farm is part of the TGG Foundation and their charitable work - https://tggfct.org/
Laiju Vijaya is the owner of the farm contact details below...

Hadn’t realised this for black tea so hopefully we’ll save money and use the same leaves for 2-3 brews in a day.
We tend to drink big mugs - total volume approx 800ml for two mugs. So I have been aiming for a brew ratio of 1g/100ml.
I'm not much of a puerh fan, to be honest, and don;t often drink it
I've had this one a couple of times, which is nice enough.
