Also, it's not consumption per se that lands people in the golf club thread but the perceived bougie-ness of specific choices.

Especially with something like a Lacanche. I've heard of them lasting more than 40 years of daily use. Regular services and everything is replaceable. It's expensive but a similar amount to a nice new road bike.
People are weird.

Just spoke to my quartz worktop supplier and he said the design of the island means that he will have to build a quartz support box as a single leg won't take the estimated 200kg of quartz. It's not even that big FFS.

Maybe that'll land me in the golf thread.
'My new quartz worktop is just too heavy 😓😓😓'

Once I broke 20k on the Lacanche range builder mini site website I felt maybe it warranted a crosspost. I got the impression it was the thread for totally shame-/judgement-free conspicuous consumption – I’ve actually found it to generate useful insight into these sort of purchases in between the ribbing, but my taking advice from that thread probably means I belong in there.

You would say that. You privileged duck.

That said if you want kudos for spending bling-custom-bike money on a kitchen, you should probably be on a kitchen forum. But I imagine their bike chat is lacking.

Do I dare even search for this thread?

I'm finding mid terrace life quite cozy at the moment.
That is until I go to bed and the windows (that can't be replaced until Jan end/ early Feb) let a bloody huge breeze in.
Oh also I haven't had my first heating bill through yet...

Whilst we're on the subject of old Victorian houses. A few of my floorboards are knackered and need replacing. Can I just go to a big DIY shop and grab some new boards or are they likely to be imperial measurements that'll involve me tracking down some reclaimed pieces.

I'm radically rethinking my kitchen budget now

There are companies refurbing them on eBay and selling on. They look pretty much new in the pictures, but still expensive for a second hand range.

Lacanche has been on my list as I can't decide between gas and induction and they seem to be one of the best options - or go for something like the gaggenau vario series and then built in oven...

According to my wife I have already bought all the tin lined copper in Normandy.
At least when you could find it cheap at vide greniers before copper pans were fashionable again.Fortunately you can get it retinned at the best place for it in Villedieu les poêles

Induction hob, built in fan oven & separate steam oven. Lacanche look very nice but I can’t help thinking they’re about as relevant as haute cuisine.
-
• #39218
I think we’ll probably try and go for a separate hob with 2 gas burner, wok burner and induction. And then two built in ovens - one microwave and one steam.

Not sure if this is a boast post for the parents forum but the latest delivery that's arrived today is a super king bed and brand new mattress. Can't. Wait.

You could say this is already a Kitchen forum

Sounds fun. Domino type hobs?

We went full induction, looks great but defo not as easy to cook with as gas. If we had a bigger place prob would have gone mix.

That wok burner looks perfect for my £9 carbon steel wok.
Obligatory 'you must be new here'. :)
