To answer the obvious question, yes, Miele are worth the £££.

Haha... because I kill everything with carelessness, the ‘bagless’ DC02 (RIP) just passed the problem to the expensive Dyson filters. I was renovating a house, so I think I was using it beyond reasonable spec. Next time I bought a Henry, which was perfect for that.
I’ve been using a Miele bagged model recently and tip my hat to its carpet-lifting power.

Ugh. Vacuum cleaner has died. Is there a forum-approved shortlist of not shit but not stupid expensive vacuum cleaners? (hard floors and carpets) We already have a little D*s*n thing that isn't up to a whole house worth of cleaning up after kids.
(my suggestion of a workshop wet & dry vac that I can also plug into dust extraction for power tools met with a deathly silence)
