Sprinters are known for rust. If I was on a budget I would go Peugeot/Citroen, if you want something absolutely bombproof then Iveco Daily is worth considering.
These are the vans my brother who is a mobile mechanic has just spent investigating and ended up with a LWB iveco, it’s based on a lorry chassis, so weight won’t be an issue, can also go to a XLWB for loads of space.

Why do you say this? A friend who has done a couple of DIY conversions is big into Sprinters. I thought they were a bit of a 'scene'
