Jesus. Flurry of questions and confirmations coming through now, feels like something is imminent. Although, still infuriating that most of them are questions that could have been answered months ago.

Sony has ads, Samsung has ads, they all have ads.
I think least ads is LG because they don't run Android and so Samba.tv haven't integrated yet.
Top tip for smart TVs... don't connect them to the internet, just buy an Nvidia Shield or Apple TV and use that instead.

It's not about noticing them.
Samsung TVs 'phone home' around 2-400 times a day with information on your viewing habits which they then sell to 3rd parties. Despite GDPR, there is no way to opt-out of this.
If you can, block these domains on your network:
samsungads.com
events.samsungads.com
config.samsungads.com
tvx.adgrx.com
samsungotn.net
samsungrm.net
samsung.net/ads -

They won't make much from my viewing data unless they're working with exoclick or juicyads
-
• #39133
But how does your TV know who you are?
Can it pull the details off another device that's on the same WiFi network? -
• #39134
It uses your network IP and cross references that against other databases of cookied devices.

I recently bought a cheap Toshiba TV and it had the option to enable/disable samba.tv during the initial configuration. I imagine most TVs will have this option hidden away somewhere given mine is really bottom tier.
I'm sure there's plenty of other tracking which I'm not aware of but it's a start!

What kind of lunatic has a clock bigger than their TV??

There can be a bit of minor anti-social behavior around Gosport / Exmouth Rd
Thanks. This is what I'd concluded and is a nope as a quiet life is very important to me.
@Simpson I'd seen that one! Despite selling with The Modern House, and having 40+ viewings booked in at the time, they didn't want to book a viewing for us because we didn't have a buyer yet. It was a wildcard anyway, too far out for us. Also I realised it was far too close to an A road and some pretty 'transient' looking housing, which may explain why the sellers are moving after such a short amount of time.
We've doubled down on Coppermill now after exploring some streets off Markhouse (Downsfield/Acacia/Myrtle etc.) which seemed nice enough but smelt of poo and, well, Markhouse does not fill me with joy.

Which bit?!
The smelt of poo bit I meant literally, turns out there's a sewage works I had no idea about round the corner.

Cooker hood hive mind advice... about to tear the kitchen out and need a new one to go over a 90cm Ilve range. There’s 1m between the top of the worktop and the start of the pitched roof so the space is pretty tight. I can’t stand cooker hoods that stick out too far at eye level - I’m clumsy and forever head butting them. What would be a neat and compact solution?

Yours is the first place I've seen where an angled cooker hood makes perfect sense and would look like an integral part of the kitchen.
Just get an angled cooker hood

Yeah, that’s where we’re leaning. Still struggling to find one slim enough to safely sit above the hob and still vent out the top.
Going to email a drawing to these folk today see what they think:

I'm thinking recessed for next place but only because I know we won't be able to afford shadow gaps.

Our recently installed angled vent hood over our 90cm Ilve cooker. Fisher and Paykel - nice but pricey.
