Ferrari FFs are under 100k now, and if the numbers are to be believed have 'as much' (as little?) boot space as my 3 series.
I love these, but explaining to Me Julie why I've borrowed 80k to spend on a car when the mortgage is 100k might be an interesting conversation.

Well, I got my Certificate of Conformity from Porsche to try to register my old 911 for the ULEZ. @Dammit, the email address you shared was the one - it was very easy (and free :) ) to get, took just under a month.
It's on it's way in the post from my Dad's so I've not read it, but he said it was all in German so I'm not sure yet whether it will actually pass. Assuming it does, next up will be to register it with TFL...

I've got the order form from Porsche in pdf actually - dm me an email address if you want it, otherwise they'll send it to you pretty quickly.

You can't drive a mortgage to the shires?
I was, unrelated to this thread, going down a similar fast estate rabbit hole yesterday evening and ended up in this exact position. I'm hoping that they continue to rapidly depreciate and that eventually my 'silly car' pot will meet it somewhere in the middle.

Both the most recent and previous gen CTS-V wagons are absolute monsters. They're not just blunt tools but incredibly capable. The most recent model with the LT4 engine, magnaride, and ZF 8 speed is without a doubt, one of the best estate purchases you can make.
They were made in limited numbers though and hold their value well, they're still around $55k used in the USA, when they do come up for sale.
If you really wanted one, then I'm sure Craig at Dyno Torque could help you get one.

I bet you can fit a lot of glass dining tables and velvet soft furnishings in the back of that.

Other than eBay, does anyone have any advice on buying a K24 engine? Hoping to make initial enquiries but want to make sure I'm talking to the right/trusted people.
-
• #59888
There's a shop Dan Silvester (Danny DC2) frequents, HCR-Works, I don't know anything about them but they seem to be K24 specialists so should be able to help.
Otherwise maybe buying a written off Accord?

Thanks a lot, I'll do some investigating online. As engines are inevitably going to get more expensive thought doing an engine swap the wrong way around might make sense for me as can slowly tinker away and learn. Will cost buying it separately as opposed to a donor car although have a hunch what makes more sense.

Sera, imported here still rare. Gullwing doors.

There is a sera by the top of woolwich common, with broken glass in the door roof. Chatted to the owner and the glass is really hard to source. Seen the kings cross one but does it meet the ULEZ? So will it ever move again?

Wonder how much cheaper it would be to find a basket case and make it better than it ever was. The original engines were US and the usual US engine of the time of not much power from lots and lots of petrol.
With the modern LS engine and drive train would probably bring up all the handling issues of the chassis. Wonder if they still use the rover p5 rear axel ?

This is extremely cool, but the estate car needs to be somewhat modern as I want 100% reliability, and the ability to get it serviced/fixed anywhere in Europe
Not quite an estate
