the stay clamps look differnt mudguards
They do, but the actual stays look like typical GB to me, with the flattened part around the guards.

They do look like GBs... But is blackening stainless steel even a thing?

powdercoating is...
GB are making them in black
But they're hard to get hold of thanks to covid, I just got mine powder coated black

Those are powdered Velo Orange guards. I originally bought Gilles Berthoud, but the powder coater fucked them up. The stays are handmade from 6mm steel tubing.

We've been bamboozled!

I even cut the ends with a template i made from GB guards because i did not like how they looked originally. All that effort just to confuse people at the Internet, haha.

How so? He has his daughter in a Yepp on the back and lives in hilly area. Makes sense to me.

Anyone know what I should search for to make some decent quality mud flaps. I'm thinking 1.5mm polypropylene or similar but that doesn't turn much up on Ebay.

'Nitrile rubber sheet' was what I used, e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oil-Resistant-Nitrile-Rubber-Sheet-Various-thicknesses-and-sizes-/121409645732 - looking at my email I bought an A4 sheet of 2mm rubber for about £3.50, which was enough for front and rear flaps. It's reasonably floppy, but has held up for over 3 years now.

I'm wanting to cut a profile that goes around the chain stays and protects the motor / BB area. So thinking something like mylar, so it's relatively stiff.

On my bakfiets I cut up a milk bottle, which survived for >5 years.
Thinking about it, I think the Scobleflap on my tourer was a milk bottle as well.

Try searching for HDPE sheets

That's the stuff I'm looking for!

HDPE
AKA milk bottle plastic - choose your size with care, and you may be able to cut a piece that matches the curvature of your guards/chainstays ;)
