Also interested, I was thinking of strapping a belt beg to the crossbar for my Lumix but unsure how well it would survive. At least when you carry it, your body acts as a big damper.
Would love to have it readily available though.

The restrap camera sling / strap is good for riding with the camera on body. (There is also a forum discount code somewhere too).
That's what I assume you mean as opposed to strapping it onto the bike?

It looks like Restrap are no longer doing their sling thing unfortunately

I have restrap and mettle, wanna buy?

Definitely interested...how much would you want for them I'd be interested in checking them out in person?

I'm overdue for a trip down to my brother's who I think you've met, will look to arrange and see if I can tie the two together

I'm using the Peak Design Slide Lite in combination with the fidlock equipped stabilizer from PS bagworks.
Works a charm with my X100V & Really Right Stuff bottom plate.

I’ve been using the Outer Shell one for years and it’s bloody amazing. Has a messenger bag style stability strap that holds the camera in place even when mountain biking.

Vaguely relevant question to this thread, does carrying camera on bikes cause any long term damage in terms of bumps/vibration/shock?
Got both a modern digital and an old 35mm mechanical camera and their lenses in mind
Not sure if any of you guys also insure camera for the off chance of crashes -

Wouldn't have thought so. I carry my camera in a padded 'sleeve' in a bar bag and never noticed anything untoward. Can't imagine it gets any more shocks etc than in a car or when slung over my shoulder when walking.
I did once have a crash in the woods at speed, luckily the only thing that broke was the screen protector.

I've just ordered a Rille stabilising strap so I can take my X-T4 out on the bike with me (I've finally stopped being overly precious of the camera after getting a few scratches/marks on it).
I'll be using it with my Peak Design strap so will report back how I get on with it if anyone is interested.

Interested to see how you get on, was looking at one of those.
It's a good line to cross when you get over scratches etc. Things are there to be used!

And used it shall be! My camera has moved from “precious object” to “tool.”

I made my own Rille strap, saved me €30. I don't have pics of it now but it was not super technical!

I've still not made one of those so for gravel stuff was putting my little Sony into a very small case on a belt

How are y’all dealing with the sweaty/foggy viewfinder when you’re carrying a camera on the bike?
-
• #22
Can't say I have ever encountered that.
-
• #23
It’s less of a problem for me now as I am wearing more layers but in the summer, anything slightly vigorous would just fog the finder right up.

Shoot from the hip?

I carry mine in a thin neoprene case winter and summer and don't seem to have any issues (I am in the UK)
Interested in hearing what people find are best straps for carrying a cane a when not buried in a bag. Suggestions appreciated, particularly ones that don't cost a king's ransom.
