I’d been after that particular white frame above but seller and I couldn’t agree on a price and they went quiet... I’ve since picked up a Roberts Max in pearl white with a pink over spray so am currently thinking either pink/lilac like my original Rossin (below) or a bronze brown...

And the ‘wrong’ forks that I believe come from the performance model

Love the colour of this Roberts max road frame

That purple looks very good!
Also looks like it would work with both silver and black components -

Yeah I think it’ll look good with the purple and blue Rossin decals as well...
the brown colour I’m thinking is similar to one VW use on their transporter - ‘toffee’ I think it’s called

Ohh yes, lovely frame.
Sadly no more bob Jackson resprays job available.
Edit:- They're closing down... :-(

Oh really? Why so?
I was thinking of someone more local anyway - Mario Vaz etc for a single colour metallic
If I had unlimited funds I’d try to replicate this stunner, but I know it would cost to get it right, and still not be original so... meh, lilac or brown it is...

Think I’m being dim but confused by post 3. Sounds like you didn’t get the Rossin in the OP and you’ve now got a MAX Roberts then more discussion on Rossin decals?
Either way both sound amazing, but whats what??

Yeah, I have a Roberts Max track frame in white and a Rossin SLX in the first post that needs new paint... the Roberts paint is basically what I’d wanted for the Rossin but I don’t want two frames so similar so will paint the Rossin lilac or brown...

Yeah sorry confused the white frame you didn’t get.
Love these, should be good.

Oh wow this gon be good! Looking forward to your final decision on the colour. I vote lilac, cause Italian steel deserves a little extravaganza. My probably favourite colourway for a Rossin is the Hitachi team issue, but that would be an expensive job I guess. And it's not period correct for this frame I think

I have a special interest since I have a Rossin respray on my wishlist as well. I bought this years ago, in the least sexy colourscheme one can imagine. Bought it specifically for that BB shell :)

Nice!! What size is that? Would you keep it tout mavic if you had it painted?
-
• #17
Yeah a mavic gruppo would suit a Rossin well, given the team heritage (there's a cool mavic decal on the fork), but his gruppo is way too scruffy to fit a repainted frame (i.e. see the rust on the front dr). I was thinking either DA 7400, superbe pro, 1st gen athena or sugino 75 (if I'm ever going to complete that group). Considering spending all the budget on the respray I'd rather use something I already have lying around. Buying more stuff will only get me in trouble...
Oh and it's a 58 frame, 56.5 toptube, exactly my type.
Would you consider a sick fades scheme?

I’d love sick fadez but it would take me forever to decide and commit to a combination...
@Matisse yeah there are!
And on that note, another colour reference - lilac Raleigh shopper... saw a resprayed Raleigh 753 from @DustyRumble once upon a time and he said it was a colour Raleigh and Carlton used, and that Mario Vaz knew it as ‘Mario’s Lilac’ - I’d vowed to have a frame painted in it when the opportunity presented itself...

Sorry for the lousy screenshots, but I saw this catalog once in the local classifieds. 'Microfusion'

Ah nice! 👍🏻
You mention mavic and Rossin being a team pairing, got any more info? I only got hooked on these frames as I bought one on here years ago and loved it but it was a fraction too tall (odd short geometry) -
• #22
Well, the only team I'm sure of is the 1987 Hitachi team with the late Claude Criquielion. He won Flanders that year, which gives the combo Rossin-Mavic a certain pedigree imo. Maybe it's because I was born in the 80s and brought up watching VHS, but the team colours always drew my attention.

Ah cool, well I’ve got this stuff spare so might be a mavic build, though I’m aiming to have all bikes running 11speed so I can swap wheels around etc and don’t use DT shifters anymore...

So while the Rossin is stuck in London I’ve acquired another frame to hang the parts bin on - a cream De Rosa Al+

Snagged one of these after a long hunt, paint is scrappy and forks are from another model but hope to get it on the road with a campag veloce 11 speed group then if it’s good I’ll paint it and upgrade over time... slow burner project
