• Pads: are new-fangled ‘Kevlar’ types from the likes of Discobrakes an appreciable upgrade over standard organic/resin?

  • Get manufacturer metal/sintered, especially for winter. Costs more, lasts longer and just works

  • IME Kevlar are only used when DH MTB in the alps. Better braking but don't last very long. I can easily go through four sets of pads in a week but then again I'm doing circa 100,000 feet of descending in 6 days riding.

    For road bike use in (assumption) London/the home counties then sintered for longevity.
