If you do ‘conventional’ dinglespeed you get a forever-straight chain. And you can use a tough chain, singlespeed rings and cogs. Stainless steel stuff even. It’s goofy having a little fiddle with the qr at the trailhead but the bike is easy to clean and difficult to break. And zombie proof. I like it.

I’ve never done it with vertical dropouts though.
