I use to pride myself on never bothering to inflate the tyres on the commuter. 23mm tyres at <40psi when you're >90kg makes for some interesting line choices when potholes are about.
I've been doing some MTB trails recently on an MTB and a gravel bike (because I didn't know they were MTB trails until I got to the singletrack). So far, so good although I won't be riding the MTB trails on the Tripster again :S It's doable but not exactly sensible.
My tyre pressure is determined by how low I can go and still not fuck up my rims hitting a curb like a fool.
[ this is the result of a particularly techy ride, hustling a cx bike with a bunch of mtbers ... feeling like a boss for having survived (with no flats) and then killing my rear rim bunglehopping a mini roundabout 5mins from my front door ]
