Looking forward to Harley riders getting stung by that.
I got pulled over by the police once on my old motorbike (ZX6R) because it was too noisy (no surprise, it had a whacking great hole in the exhaust downpipe). Luckily I was on my way to drop it off to be repaired (and it was booked in with the garage) which placated them. As we were chatting a HD went past making way more noise than my holey downpipes were making and the copper just said "Cor, look at that, lovely bike."

New car.
Found something other than the reverse gear he was looking for.
Electric (It's the new electric Porsche Taycan) that gives full torque at zero speed.
Panic. -

Yes, that's similar to another one we've had before. I can't remember where it was now, perhaps in the crashing into buildings thread, but someone in Muswell Hill (?) also hit the wrong pedal on a street in a slope and crashed into a slightly elevated car park. I think I can remember where it was and will have a quick look.

This is it:

Actually, it's not that similar, but the one above reminded me of it. Still one of the oddest crashes I've seen.

Is this risk going to increase with wider rollout of electric cars? I keep watching that video and imaging a kid playing on the driveway :(

Bollard not high vis enough.
Very fortunate that the police officer obviously was.

Good old bell bollards.

An employee did that with a 9000 pound forklift today.
(Forklift=very expensive)Took a whole crew to get it off the bollard without tipping over.
On top of that the idiot driving panicked and jumped off the fork, fell when he hit the floor, and is now in hospital with a concussion. -

I think we had this when it happened. Here's the trial report:
Ahmed Al Husseini, of Dundee House, wreaked more than £330,000 worth of damage as he crashed into a stretch of parked cars including a McLaren, Porsche and Bentley in Moore Street on August 5 last year.

Terrifying isn't even the word for it. It looks like a race, doesn't it?

80 in a 20.
80 isn't legal on any road in the UK.
He thought a narrow residential street was an acceptable place to do those speeds? WAC -

Had problems figuring out what was going on there. Have they driven down past the houses and only come a cropper when almost back on the road?
-

I can't say I'm too surprised--this is how that looks on Google Maps:
It should be corrected.
For some reason, I've looked at that exact spot before, but I can't remember now what prompted it.

And here's the Streetview: https://goo.gl/maps/qPozDcWjEsQUWHet8
There are no signs coming down to say you shouldn't drive that last bit, and the signs at the bottom make it look like you can drive up it (it just isn't suitable for wide vehicles), and you can tell from the shadows that the Google Streetview car drove up it.
From the photo it just looks like she turned off the edge of the road a little too early and grounded the car.
But, yes, Google Maps should probably stop listing that section as a road and directing people down it. The locals who know how to drive it can still use it if they want.

Signs at the other end - which they must've driven past - say no entry except for access.
Being confused by sat nav when it contradicts road signs isn't a great excuse for following it.
-

That's partly my point though, the road signs aren't perfect.
If you weren't meant to drive that bit it would have a "no entry" sign, but there isn't one.
There would also be a "No through road" sign at the start of Holt Lane, but there isn't one.
Locals, who know the risk, clearly use that section and the Google Streetview car did (albeit going the other way). Again the road signs visible from the bottom do not prevent use.
I don't see where the article gets the "it's a footpath" bit from. The road signs visible from the bottom clearly indicate it is thought of as a road (otherwise they would say "No Entry" rather than "No motor vehicles - except for access".)
[EDIT] If I drove down that road I'd hopefully turn round and drive back rather than attempting it. The main problem is that to get out safely you need to go as straight as possible, which means driving into the oncoming lane with no visibility. That's probably why the driver turned to the left which meant the front left wheel to fall off and down and meant the car was grounded.

You could fit a 90s car (say a Peugeot 205) up there easily. Also all those cars & a transit on Streetview parked facing downhill - are they all going to reverse back up? I think it's just crap driving from the Beemer driver
