• I can't believe how much she's come out of her shell already. I don't want to get complacent or over confident but she seems to feel right at home.

  • She'll evict you in a day or two. :)

  • Forgive the word of caution, but just something to bear in mind - my dog Bob was similar (cypriot street dog rescue, about 6 months old) and the first two weeks with us he was the model dog, seemed confident/happy etc and we congratulated ourselves on our great luck.

Then after that he got really very nervous, and we could barely get him the short walk to the park. Unfortunately culminated in him completely freaking out at a kid on a scooter one day, and slipping his harness and escaping, and sadly getting hit by a car.

Dog trainer we had subsequently said he heard similar of lots of rescues - initially very confident seeming, then its almost as though they decide, "actually, XYZ new thing is a bit scary". In retrospect, we definitely could have mitigated by doing less with him in those early days, and not being so "OMG, he's so great, lets take him to the cafe and the pub and the park".

Two years on and he's an excellent boy. Still get a chilling reminder each year from google photos "on this day..." feature which delights in showing me an animated gif of my pictures from the vets of him with his wired up jaw and broken legs!
