I just finished my Day Release. Did not go as planned but there are a few obvious reasons (toothache earlier in the week disrupting sleep, anti biotics for aforementioned tooth messing with my gut, FiL taken into hospital on Friday) as well as bag too heavy as I hadn't really thought through starting on a Sunday meaning everywhere closes earlier so had 3.5kg of drink, plus food and clothes etc.
I had a low point after about 20 miles, which lasted for about 15 miles. Unusual for me to suffer like that so early on. That cost me time I couldn't recover so turned back at about 45 miles (aiming for 51) which had take me about 10 hours and I was fading again so wanted to make sure I could get home. From there it was a bit of a death march home. Walked a lot. Couldn't eat anything all night. Feel pretty dead now and still not feeling like eating much. Hopefully sleep will help.
