  • Ah cool, thanks for that. Will PM to sort out, @Señor_Bear

  • Now that’s a pretty big cat scratcher

  • anyone else here bought Vitsoe shelves before?
I have never been through such a convoluted buying process before. Surely theres got to be a fairly simple way of having an online CAD tool to mock up your own and play around with what you might want instead of having to email someone every time you might want to see how an addition might look?

    Just seems odd

Off to the architecture thread with you...

Seriously though, there are several on there who have and will be able to offer advice (not me, unfortunately - I can't have nice furniture or the kids will ruin it!).

  • Yes.

It can be a pain, but they are a pretty small company and have excellent customer service. The reason they sell B2C so successfully is because they actually take an individual brief for each "project" (read: customer). E.g What is your wall height? What are your walls made of? What are you using the shelves for? etc.

This way, not only do you get a drawing of what you are ordering (reassuring knowing the costs involved of the product) but also there is literally no margin for error. Thereby avoiding their team being overrun with calls from Maximus in Stoke Newington asking for deeper shelves for his original collection of LP's.

If I was setting up a business selling direct to consumers I would follow their business model.

tl:dr Buying Vitsoe is a process that should be enjoyed.

  • I mean, maybe. But this is the reason they are a small company, you can easily get exactly the same results from an online CAD tool that you input wall shape and then add in bits as you please. Then it's scalable. Tbh I'm buying Vitsoe cause I like the shelves, definitely not because I want to enjoy a tedious buying process.

Tl:dr pointless rant about outdated buying process for furniture that apparently priorities innovation and simplicity

  • Anyone bought anything from mobelaris? Any good?

  • I need to have a g plan sideboard picked up from Bucks and brought to London. It's not small 46cm (W), 206cm (L) and 78cm (H) and wondering what the best option to get it brought in without too much damage to the furniture or my wallet. Any suggestions gratefully received

  • We bought a ceiling shade a few weeks back.
It was pretty flawless on their part and I get the feeling their post sale would be the same.

  • Beg someone on here with a van to go pick it up with you and offer them a McDonalds breakfast as a thank you. Usually works for me*.

    *never actually tried it.

  • I've used shiply a couple of times...had a couple of pieces of furniture moved from Kent and Surrey to London - costs were 40 quid and 60 (more expensive one needed 2 ppl to collect and was from the first floor)

  • @Gustav I've also used and can recommend Shiply

  • I've just had two sofa's collected and driven 100miles with Anyvan. The rates were good, there was tracking throughout and the sofa's arrived without a scratch. There were lots of blankets in the back of the van and the guys brought the sofas into our living room, without being asked.

  • @Muppetteer @YAFJ @Tomo187 @heavisides thanks for suggestions

  • Thanks.

I am now looking at the oculus chair, anyone have one?

Also really like the Pernilla 69 chair but I think it’s overpriced and can’t find any repros

  • Only just realised there’s a furniture thread on here. Got my brother to make some of the furniture for our place. Asked him to make this desk to match the chair

  • Very impressive, good workmanship and clean design.

  • Has anyone used https://loaf.com/ The website makes me think overpriced, hipster crap but it's hard to tell without seeing these things in the flesh.

  • Could you post some more photos please? I've been meaning to build a desk for ages and this is almost exactly what I had in mind!

  • Yeah no problem, will need to clear it up a bit this afternoon. Anything in particular you wanted to see?

  • Just a couple angles and the leg arrangement - especially round/under the drawers.

    Cheers!

  • Who was asking for sofa bed recommendations a page or two back? We bought one from https://www.darlingsofchelsea.co.uk/fabric-sofa-beds recently and i'm really happy with it. Can't find the exact model we bought tho. It might have been a custom order. It's a really deep 3 seater chesterfield style in dark green wool with a full size double bed. It's not the softest thing to sit on (sure it will mellow with time) but I can lie stretched out on the sofa and the bed is very comfy too. It's been invaluable for when kids turn up in our bed. Rather than spend the night being kicked and poked, i can just nip downstairs and unfold a lovely big spare bed . Bliss. The bed opens and unpacks really easily. Oh and and it smells delicious.

  • Sent you a PM as I’m not sure anyone else wants me clogging up the thread with desk legs
