I'm building up another SP for mine. You'll get the SON fanboys in here telling you you need one of those but SPs have been doing just fine for me for the last few years.

I've used a few - SP, another TW brand and SON. In use there's little in it at all, just lifespan. One may be a bit smoother or have more output at low speeds but at 15mph it's all the same. I've had about 2 yrs good use from SPs and the bearing wear wasn't anything dramatic, I ran it a bit worn/loose for maybe 1500-2000 miles w/o issues (had 2 of them, QR disc spec. Durability as expected rather than the early thru-axle versions that were prone to rapid bearing wear).
Only went for the SON on a recent build for the durability and the wide body spec for a better rim brake wheel build. Really I should use SP on a rim brake wheel as the rim will wear about the time the hub wears, easier to justify SON for a disc wheel. -

Not all of us get shop discounts.

SP had a design / manufacturing problem a few years back that lead to really bad bearing wear within the first few hundred miles. Apparently they have fixed that issue now. SON claim to have a more sophisticated seals against moisture. I think either will serve you well. Petervary runs with SP and does much bigger rides than I ever will...

What are you doing to them? Letting them soak in salty water every night?
I've never even serviced mine. -

You're right, but many won't look past tyre clearance as a category.

Okay. So couple of hub and wheel options; what’s the current recommendations for lights and some sort of charging foe other devices? I assume USB to a battery pack?

SON lights are fully watersealed, 5 year warranty, repairs can be done at factory.
B+M have good lens' but tend to see some issues with water ingress.
Klite is darn good for anything that require stupid bright lights + no crimping or soldering, just plug and play.
usb - Sinewave revolution, tiny, £120, waterproof, job done.
Yes, charge a battery pack, then your phone.

Son warranty service is great, only problem is you lose the hub for a couple of weeks.
I was cheap and bought my hub through German eBay to save £20 or something, warrantied through SJS so I bought another from them as stand in while original was away.Rode straight into a rural canal once and can confirm the lights are well sealed. Stand licht was still glowing as I dragged my bike out.

compared to getting SA sorted via cycle division this is nothing, now change the internal in house and just ship them the fucked part for a credit

Took the "new" Kinesis out in its gravel form. GRX shifters are nice! It's official. The wider Easton bars (44cm) are good too - love not bashing my knuckles into the aerobars when riding uphill on the tops. Not 100% on the flared drops but they're not horrible, just a bit odd. 47mm WTB Ventures, that come up 47mm on i23 are decent. Will need to play around with pressures a bit more (35psi rear, 32psi front for now).

My hands don't like the ribbed hoods features, riding without gloves when not cold. But the finish on the lever themselves is really nice. The servo wave is also good.

I wonder if it possible to fit the GX600 Hood on instead.

They're much better than the 785s they replaced and probably better than the Ultegras on the Mason. Ribbed? Didn't notice, just like the shape a lot. I don't know what servo wave is either.

Hippy finally becomes a gravel bro!
Thinking of getting a dynamo front wheel. What should I be looking at in terms of dynamo as it'd mostly be used on gravel-ish rides and I don't want something that dies when I need it.
