top trump meme.

A former colleague of mine posted that meme on Facebook yesterday. Below a post claiming that the MSM are covering up the fact that the entire Biden family are predatory paedophiles and are being paid bribes by China to destabilise the USA.

paid bribes by China to destabilise the USA.
I'm sure that was a thing back in the day, but surely since the Chinese Communist Party made the inevitable progression from revolutionary Marxism to kleptocratic oligarchy, they want a stable west as a safe haven for their stolen money? There is a conspiracy, just not the rather antiquated one the "conspiracy theorists" still cling to 🙂

Wasn’t my first impression of the joke, just found the face value joke funny.

face value joke
There's a face value joke? It's barely a joke, and certainly not a meme, without referring back to 1940/43

There's a face value joke?
A la The Onion, sure.
Edit- on further consideration, it’s not a meme, y’all got me there.

Fuck me

It isn't a joke with multiple levels. The face value is "Nar, nar! Cowardly forrins, we won!" which is the only value.

Maybe it would work a bit better if the France line was changed to America expected to join the fight within weeks.

I can see your point, having put it in a Ww2 context.
My understanding or possibly misunderstanding of the author’s intended joke, was that humanity has cocked up the fight against Covid so badly that a country (sub out Italy if you want) has decided Covid is the winning horse and has decided to throw its hat in with it, which is of course impossible because Covid isn’t capable of diplomatic relations because it’s a virus, and is additionally non-sensical because the virus ‘preys’ on humans no matter if they ‘support’ it or not. I assumed it was parody, not jingoistic mockery, and I found that pretty funny.

All the WW2 veterans on here probably don't feel that way though, do they? Have you forgotten poppy day so soon?

Given the strapline about France surrendering to Germany because old habits die hard, is it possible to put it in any other than a WWII context?
