650b A frame is a decent idea. What width are the tyres? I couldn't see it mentioned anywhere.

Terrible picture but I believe the bike he won the World Champ road race is on display in the Hennie Kuiper Cycling Museum in Twente, Netherlands.
I wonder if that is the same bar tape or was it replaced at some point, it looks very thick for 1975?

Hennie is a feckin champ! A gentleman pur sang and a rarity in sympaness among winners. Tape should have been cotton imo.

I'm surprised one of you Londoners haven't snapped this up yet. If it is a 1969 made frame that's the same year Harm Ottenbros won the world champs and unknowingly launched the Champion Mondial model. Might make a nice addition to a collection.
Although according to the frame numbers on gazellechampionmondial.nl it's a 1968 frame.

Re: the 1969 bike on eBay, I asked for the measurements and they are as follows: Top tube centre to centre:
23in/58.5cm, Seat tube centre to headset centre: 22.5in/57cm. Annoyingly too big for me. -

Small Baanfiets for not silly money...

Are these actually any good? Or is just plan and simple lust?

You mean compared to other 70s track bikes? I have not ridden one, but it should be a nice bike for sure. Champion Mondial road bikes are not the stiffest frames around but really well built nonetheless, specialized for specific purposes as well. 6 day legend Peter Post is known to have ridden the Gazelle baanfiets, although most of the time he rode his beloved RIH.

Hi, cheers v. much.
They're actually just Deda Piega that I'm sure you've seen a million times, but I've removed the graphics with nail polish remover. If anything else wants to do the same I can confirm that these are the kind of graphics that just melt off in a few seconds with nail polish remover. Stem is just a cheap Zenith.
